Full Summary
Banner Highway 01 is the inaugural installment of a visual poetry series that transforms traditional Burma-Shave roadside advertisements into an interactive online experience. This project utilizes a collection from Banner Depot 2000, an archive of 1990s and early 2000s banner ads, to create a unique blend of nostalgia and modernity.
Users can click on any displayed banner to access its original metadata, enhancing the engagement with the content. The series aims to evoke the charm of vintage advertising while adapting it for the Information Superhighway.
By encouraging users to turn their devices sideways, the project optimizes the viewing experience, making it more immersive. This innovative approach not only preserves a piece of advertising history but also invites a new audience to appreciate the art of visual poetry.
