Switching Password Managers in 2026
TL;DR
Switching password managers is now easier than ever, especially on iOS devices like iPhones and iPads. Users can seamlessly export and import data between various password management apps, enhancing data portability.
✦ Why It Matters
Try exporting your passwords from 1Password to Apple Passwords today to enhance your data management.
Key Takeaways
- Export credentials securely using Face ID on iOS devices.
- Treat your new password manager as the source of truth.
- Enable AutoFill for your new app and disable it for the old one.
- Check the status of your accounts after switching managers.
How It Works
Users can export data from one password manager app to another using a secure system interface on iOS. After selecting the data to export, users confirm the transfer with Face ID, ensuring that the process is secure and phishing-resistant.
The data is transferred directly between apps without creating intermediate files, enhancing security.
