TL;DR
The Internet Archive is committed to providing universal access to knowledge through its free digital library, relying on robust infrastructure and community support. This September, donations are tripled, emphasizing the importance of sustaining their operations.
✦ Why It Matters
Consider making a recurring donation to support the Internet Archive's mission of universal knowledge access.
Key Takeaways
- Donate monthly to support the Internet Archive's infrastructure.
- Take advantage of the matching program to triple your contribution.
- Help preserve digital knowledge for future generations.
- Ensure free access to books and websites worldwide.
Full Summary
The Internet Archive aims to provide universal access to all human knowledge, relying on its own infrastructure rather than corporate solutions. This includes servers, storage, and the dedicated personnel who maintain these systems.
Currently, the Archive houses 210 petabytes of data, which is made accessible for free to users worldwide. To sustain and grow this mission, the Archive is encouraging monthly donations, offering a matching program that triples contributions during September.
For example, a $25 monthly donation can result in $75 of total support. This initiative not only helps maintain servers but also ensures that books and websites remain accessible for future generations.
