Telling a Computer to Do Things
TL;DR
Early in my career, I struggled to effectively use the command line, limiting my ability to automate tasks and integrate commands. Gaining proficiency in scripting and understanding command interactions transformed my workflow.
✦ Why It Matters
Start learning scripting to automate repetitive command line tasks and enhance your productivity today.
Key Takeaways
- Invest time in learning shell scripting for better automation.
- Explore tools like 'fzf' and 'tldr' to enhance command-line efficiency.
- Practice writing scripts to integrate multiple commands seamlessly.
- Avoid relying solely on GUIs to prevent workflow limitations.
How It Works
Shell scripting allows users to combine commands and implement logic, enabling automation of complex tasks. For example, using 'while' loops can repeatedly execute a command until it fails, streamlining testing processes.
