Elevators
TL;DR
Elevators, while seemingly simple, operate on complex algorithms like SCAN and LOOK to manage their routes efficiently. Understanding these systems can enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
✦ Why It Matters
Evaluate your building's elevator system to ensure it uses efficient algorithms for better service.
Key Takeaways
- Consider using simpler elevator algorithms for better performance.
- Analyze traffic patterns to optimize elevator scheduling.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of Destination Dispatch in your building.
- Monitor wait time metrics to assess elevator efficiency.
How It Works
The RSR algorithm scores elevators based on their proximity and availability, optimizing passenger pickups every 5 seconds. This dynamic adjustment allows for better traffic flow, especially during peak times.
