Puppy PPE
TL;DR
A dog owner in the SF Bay Area created the Outfox Field Guard, a protective mesh bag for dogs to prevent foxtail weed injuries. This innovation addresses a significant risk to pets, as foxtails can cause severe health issues.
✦ Why It Matters
Consider investing in protective gear for pets if you live in areas with foxtail weeds.
Key Takeaways
- Use 3D scanning for custom pet gear design.
- Explore new materials for durability in pet products.
- Test designs in real-world scenarios for safety.
- Consider animal psychology when designing pet equipment.
How It Works
The helmet's design utilizes a thin shell that fits the dog's face, allowing for replaceable mesh inserts that maintain breathability and sensory functions. The use of an iPhone's TrueDepth sensor for 3D scanning enables accurate modeling of the dog's unique shape, overcoming limitations of traditional scanning methods.
