Apple's "Clean Design" Is Stupidity When It Comes to Hiding Fire Extinguishers
TL;DR
Apple's design philosophy prioritizes aesthetics over safety, as evidenced by fire extinguishers hidden behind flush panels in their retail spaces. This approach compromises emergency preparedness in favor of a clean look.
✦ Why It Matters
Evaluate your own design choices to ensure safety features are visible and accessible.
Key Takeaways
- Prioritize visibility of emergency equipment in design.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and NFPA regulations.
- Avoid aesthetic choices that compromise safety.
- Design safety infrastructure as a functional necessity.
How It Works
Effective design integrates safety features without compromising accessibility. This can be achieved through clearly labeled cabinets that blend with the environment while remaining identifiable.
