Liquid Glass effect for GNU/Emacs
TL;DR
A new patch for GNU/Emacs introduces a Ghostty-like macOS glass frame effect, enhancing the visual aesthetics of the editor. This implementation utilizes the native NSGlassEffectView for a more integrated look.
✦ Why It Matters
Install this patch to enhance your Emacs experience with a modern glass effect today.
Key Takeaways
- Follow the installation steps to apply the liquid glass effect.
- Customize frame parameters for optimal visual appeal.
- Ensure compatibility by using Homebrew's emacs-plus@31.
- Check for updated parameters if issues arise after installation.
How It Works
The liquid glass effect is achieved by applying a Cocoa patch that enables NSGlassEffectView support, allowing for adjustable transparency and blur settings. This is combined with specific frame parameters that control the appearance of the Emacs interface, such as ns-glass-material and ns-glass-tint-opacity, which dictate the glass-like qualities.
