Guiding Ships with Moire Patterns
TL;DR
A DIY project inspired by Inogon lights demonstrates how moire patterns can effectively guide ships through channels. The design adheres to specific patent guidelines for optimal performance.
✦ Why It Matters
Consider experimenting with moire patterns in your own navigation projects to enhance visibility.
Key Takeaways
- Explore DIY navigation solutions using Moire patterns.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of different guiding systems.
- Consider broader navigable areas in design.
- Utilize simple systems for clearer danger indications.
How It Works
The Moire pattern system uses overlapping grids to create visual cues for navigation. When illuminated, the patterns guide vessels by indicating their position relative to a defined path.
⚠ The Catch
While the Moire system provides guidance, it may lead to unnecessary fuel consumption and increased risk if used in wider waterways.
