Firefox 156 shows ads in the address bar (dubbed "Firefox Suggest")
TL;DR
Firefox 156 enhances the PDF viewer's speed by up to 45% and introduces 'Firefox Suggest' for localized search suggestions in the address bar. The update also optimizes memory usage for large JPEGs and improves video decoding on ARM devices.
✦ Why It Matters
Update Firefox today to leverage improved PDF handling and new address bar features for better productivity.
Key Takeaways
- Download Firefox 156 to access faster PDF viewing.
- Enable Firefox Suggest for localized search results.
- Utilize hardware acceleration for better video performance on ARM devices.
- Check settings for new auto-start options on macOS.
How It Works
The PDF viewer's speed increase is achieved through optimizations in the startup process, while memory usage for large JPEGs is reduced by improving how the browser handles image scaling. Hardware acceleration for H.264 decoding in WebRTC offloads processing from the CPU to dedicated hardware, enhancing performance during video calls.
