I Regret Migrating to Codeberg
TL;DR
Migrating to Codeberg from GitHub was initially seen as a positive move for free software, but recent changes to its terms of service raise concerns about project bans and freedom.
✦ Why It Matters
Evaluate your project's compatibility with Codeberg's new terms before migrating or hosting there.
Key Takeaways
- Evaluate alternative platforms that prioritize user freedom and transparency.
- Engage in discussions about platform policies to influence decision-making.
- Consider the implications of bans on software categories for your projects.
- Stay informed about changes in terms of service on platforms you use.
How It Works
Codeberg's new terms categorize certain projects as harmful to its reputation, allowing for their removal based on ideological alignment rather than functionality.
